Default leaky midpipe

I put a Pypes O/R X on my car last August and never new that there was a gasket on the passenger side of the car where the mid pipe hooks up to the manifold. Needless to say I found out after it was all back together. I found out that the gasket is a one time use only type deal from a mechanic at the ford dealership who recently just changed his. I bought a new gasket and put it all back together and to me it sounds like there is still a leak. You cant tell from underneath the car because the car is too loud. BUt if the windows are up and you give it some gas in 4th or 5th gear at low rpms is sounds liek a leak up by the manifold. It doesnt sound loud, more like air escaping some place. Maybe thats just the sound the motor makes with the exhaust setup. The flange on the midpipe did not have a groove in it like the orginal h pipe did to accept the flange though which seems kinda chincy, but I think they are all like that. Any thoughts??

I installed an O/R X-pipe on my Bullitt, and a transmission mechanic said that a leak could be causing "wooshing" noises with the windows up, but there's also just noise that comes from the underside/transmission. Also, I too didn't replace the gasket at first and I experienced a rattling down on the passenger side. Turns out all the coating had burned off and it was just the thin metal piece bouncin around. I've since replaced it, and all seems fine. Mustangs are good, loud mechanical cars, especially with short shifters, so I would just make sure you pinpoint whether it's a leak or not, and if it is maybe try a different gasket with some sillicone sealant.

check your catback, sometimes when installing a midpipe the rest of the exhaust gets moved a bit and the small welds on the clamps may break off. happened to me, all of mine broke off, it sucked but jb weld patched it up good enough. also check your o2 sensors, sometimes they back out if you dont put em on right and can leak. if your passenger side manifold to midpipe flange is still leaking id just tighten it some more, or get a different gasket.

just go re tighten everything with a cheater bar. Don't go overboard, just snug them all down again. I had to do this on mine a few times
