seems like it was my planetary gear that started breaking up on me so far.

I don't mean to jack the thread, but since it's on the topic..

W/ my shift kit, the shifts are awesome, and w/ mid-WOT, tires spin all the way up to O/D.. Sweet..

Now, my question is this:

For those who have the shift kit, do you notice a squeek, or a like a whistling noise when it shifts?? I heard it on a WOT shift, and it made me a little nervous...

that sounds about right, especially for an auto.

Sorry to hear you are havin probs, but it wil lbe worth it in the long rong. Have them put fully synthetic fluid in too! make your trans last even longer.

well got the car back today 2022$ later for the damn tranny after tax. shift kit is installed i dont see what the big hype about it was. actually i like how the car felt before the kit. I dont see the shifts much firmer and it seems like the rpms just keep on climbing then the car finally shifts. also when gunning the car it goes a lil past the 6000 rpm redline mark before kicking down. i also noticed that the car will accelerate to about 95mph then will just stay there until i let my foot off the gas and then mash it again to get the car to accelerate any further.

+1 to monkeydude3's comment...

Mine shift the second you toss it into another gear...

Are you sure it isn't a manual shift?? Have you tried manually shifting it??

Are there any strange noises??

my buddy has a shift kit on his 72 nova ( i know different tranny) but in drive you give any amount of throttle and it shifts firm at cruise rpm and when you hit it it slams into gear like a good speed-shift in a manual. he can also sport shift it by winding out various gears (1 or 2 until 3).

By no means should it hang gears like that
