Default Crank Pulley

I had my CP replaced by the dealer a week or so ago along with the harmonic damper. The crank pulley still wobbles a little though. Not as much as before but I am pretty sure thats not good. They replaced what they said was bent. my question is what else could be causing this? When I accelerate in like second or third, the high rpm range, the whole front end kinda vibrates. What the heck is going on????

Blah, a wobbling crank pulley is NOT good.

To the best of my knowledge, if the keyway is damaged, there isn't much you can do. You might be looking at a new crankshaft...which would mean a rebuild... All that vibration is going to kill anything attached to your crankshaft (baaaaad).

But, before I say that's definitely your situation, let's hope someone else chimes in.

Keyway meaning on the crank not the pulley right, because as far as I know that was replaced as well. Besides I have an aftermarket warranty on the car that would cover that if the shaft turns out to be the problem. The only thing is that the dealer wants 500.00 to check it and if its not the problem I'm out 500.00 bucks. But if it is the problem, the 500 goes towards the repair which I would get all back through the warranty.

take it back to the shop and complain, it shouldn't be doing that.

How the heck did you bend it?

The only way I can think of to bend the crank or crank pulley is to jack up the motor (hot) with the CP as a jack point. Other than that, an accident is the only way I could see that happening. No way it left the factory that way. I'd stop driving it until it's fixed. You'll eventually ruin the seals and bearings, and God knows what else.

Someone trying to remove the pulley without a puller is a good cause for it to be bent.

I mean, if you are feeling a massive vibration driving, I'd put a bet on your engine being rattled apart very shortly..

It was bent when I bought it. I noticed it about 2 days later! Sucks but warranty is a good thing!
