cooling fan at startup

cooling fan at startup
I have a 94 GT that runs great, but the cooling fan kicks in pretty much after its started, then shuts off about 2 minutes later. Works fine when the its needed after driving for some time (and the temp is up). Just trying to fiqure out if this is normal (as in some type of fan test at startup)
