RE: 3.73s first impressions....
I have 3.73 and love it! My buddies run 4.10, but they are about strip performance. Being mechanics as well they convinced me to hit 3.73 since i prefer track and street performance as well as high speed. They were right when they showed me there top out speeds compared to our other buddies 5.0 and him having 3.73 gears.
It is all preferance and what you are looking for.

"3.73s are a major improvement over the stockers, no matter what anyone tells you. If you need 4.30s your car simply is not making enough power "
I think i'm going with 3.90s.... any reason why your shop wouldn't touch motive gears? is it in the way they have to be set up or the quality?

its both, he explained to me how gears are made and how theres a long process so they aling properly etc...... he could install the motives but would not guarantee that it wouldnt whine. this is a guy that does this for a living so he knows what hes talking about so i went with FRPP

i can still go 110 in fourth gear with 4.10's, thats plenty fast for me in the quarter. if i had gotten 3.73 i would be wishing for 4.10's.

This is partly true, although code's going with 4.30s, but his max power is at like 6600 or somewhere up there. It all comes down to how much power and at what rpm. More power at lower rpm, higher gear (3.73, or even higher than that), power at high rpm, or less power overall (4.10 or lower).

Not 100 percent sure about the t-5, but the 45 does not have a .70 od ratio. I don't think the t-5 has a .72 either.

I want to see anyojne making more than 330 WHP run 4.30s on nitto style drag raidals on the street. Its gonna be nothing but a smoke show till 3rd gear. And who wants to run stickyer tires that last 2000 miles on their street toy?
