96 gt crank position sensor

RE: 96 gt crank position sensor
i would imagine it should, i don't think a fuel injected engine would work right without either sensor because the pcm uses the signals from both sensors to determine when and how long to fire the injectors or something to that extent

RE: 96 gt crank position sensor
okay man u got the same engine as me. Ironically a week ago we studied these on our own cars in class. Yours (and mine) will have the crankshaft position sensor right behind the a/c compressor by the crank pulley. The camshaft position sensor is on the drivers side cylinder head behind the ignition coil.
The computer uses the crank position sensor primarily for spark and the cam sensor primarily for fuel delivery, however should one cause trouble either sensor could take up the full duty.
They tell the computer when cylinder 1 is at top dead center and thus start another sequence of sparks/fuel sprays. You havin any probs or just curious?

yeah i know what the sensors do. but i needed to know if i needed to pull the one off of the police car when i do the coil on plug conversion. in the wiring diagram the crown vic computer uses it a reference for the ignition but the mustang c.o.p diagram does not use it.
