I've heard that it's not good to use nitrous in the lower gears...is that true? Can you set it up to only be used in the higher gears?

hey I've only seen nitrous used in the movie fast and furious when it was popular okay? I saw them use the buttons on the steering wheels.
It's okay with me so1o2k3, just trying to help spread factual information. At least you can say you learned soemthing.

Also, things to don't get all blurry and stuff when you're on the juice, you just get a warm fuzzy feeling when it pulls like a ****.

I'd recommend swinging by the Pipes/Boost/Juice forum and reading the nitrous sticky to help detox whatever information you may still remember from the Fast and the Furious movie, as with most movies it's about 1% fact and 99% fiction.

I would think that would be what people are worried about. You basically get a nice increase in HP #'s and a really nice increase in TQ #'s so if you can't hook in low gear, you'll light them up running n2o. The amount of these increases is based on the jetting that you are running. 50hp, 75hp, 100hp, etc. I wouldn't run more than 125hp on my stock 2v but others will tell you 150 is safe and even an occassional 175 won't hurt.

I don't think low gear is a no-no as much as low RPM or when you hit the rev limiter. When you hit the rev limiter, your fuel supply is cut - you don't want nitrous flowing without fuel. The window switch takes care of this by allowing the nitrous to flow only when the RPM's are where you told the switch to do that.

For example, if you have your window switch set at 3000-5700 RPM, it will only fire at WOT in that RPM "window".

If you launch in that window, you may have trouble hooking up. If you're a not-too-heavily modified street car, you're probably launching below 3000 and should hook before the nitrous hits. If you're still worried about it, make sure your arming switch is within reach so that you can flip it on after you've hooked or when you shift to 2nd or whatever.
