Sometimes hard to start??
Hey guys.......I was wondering about my '02 GT. Sometimes, when I'm out driving and I pull in somewhere for a minute or two and shut my car off, when I get back in and try to start it, it stumbles. It will crank but not turn over. Sometimes, it may takes 2 or 3 cranks and mashing the gas just a little to get it started. It drives fine any other time. It doesn't stall or die on me.......It only happens after I 've been driving and turn it off for a while.......but it doesn't do it all the time........just every so often.....any ideas as to what would cause this?

mine does the same thing. has since I bought it at 10,000 miles. The dealer replaced the fuel pump and filter under warranty but it didn't fix it. They told me to wait 4 or 5 seconds with the ignition on before cranking it over. That didn't seem to work either. Kind of embarrassing when you have a fairly new car and it takes two or three trys to get it started. If you hear of any fix pass it on!!!

mine used to do that. I changed the fuel filter, and it did it a little less often. since I changed my midpipe, it doesn't have that problem anymore. I dunno why. doesn't make sense to me. [&:]

mine did/ does this try turn the key and let the filter pressurize the system, then turn it off, turn it on again. after that turn the key and hold it untill the car is running completely. this should solve that problem. i noticed that sometimes when you think you should let go of the key, its too early. try what i said and let me know if it works.
BTW ive had ford discect everything, replace an injector, fuel pump, fuel filter, IAC, and polish the valves and covers. didnt work, but now my motor is clean!!

I was about to make a thread on this. It happens for me like once every 2 weeks. It weird I just mash the gas a little, I have tried the fuel pump pressurizing thing and I have a new fuel filter. So I don't know. I am suprised more than one person has this problem.

^^ i think that its not really a problem, i look at as maybe a weaker gene in the thoroughbred family, like bad knees or something.
i think that its when the starter turns the motor, it thinks its starting the motor, but it really hasnt spun thecrank fast enough to effectively start the engine. the starter motor works fine, its all in the programming. all you have to do is what i wrote in my last post.
i too am surprised this happens to anyone else. i thought i was alone. good to see there are other people suffering.
