Default running without a chip

I have an 01 Cobra and just had a procharger put in. I need to take my car to have it tuned. How bad is it to drive it without a chip? The place is only 15 minutes away and obviously I'll be very easy on it. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

A chip advances and retartds timing under diff. engine temps and loads. Recalibrates air/fuel for the procharger. But since you already had a procharger, there prob. isn't a bunchload of diff. between the two for recalibration. Just take it easy.Take it easy. I know it's a hard thing to do when you have a new part, but you'll be fine. Your engine light will come on, but probably cause your running lean.

Just don't get into boost, shift at like 2k RPM.

This is of course if the car will start and drive at all.

So Is the point here that the factory ECU has a set map and will not adjust for the extra airflow the procharger pulls across the sensor?

The maf will peg, the injectors are not big enough to keep the a/f ratio happy, the timing is not set correctly, etc etc.

Lots to the tune really. If you get a good kit it is set to pull timing if the IAT comes up.

Its ALL in the tune. The tune is the difference between a 380 WHP car running badly and a 420+ car running safe.

Thanks... Trust me, I know a good deal about tuning, But i figured that his cobra would be able compensate for the extra airflow.

like I said, there is alot more too it than just the airflow. Even assuming the stock maf would not peg on the stock program, the car would go boom.
