Like I said, remember it is from FORD. ANY dealership rapes you on price, no matter what the part/or install.

The other good thing is, now when you add exhaust later on it will pick up ALOT more power. A NPI GT with full boltons is lucky to make 220 RWHP. A PI GT can make 265+ easy.

Same thing with a supercharger. A NPI GT might only make 320 RHWP, while a PI swapped one will make 350-360~

+1 - If you look long and hard, you might find a good condition used blower for that money

Gears first above all else. You can also do the intake shuffle: new plenum, throttle body and CAI. One out of three ain't bad but your CAI is doing basically squat without the other two items installed. Add the intake plenum (Accufab) and your choice of throtttle bodies (I suggest Ford Racing 70mm with all sensors, etc. new and attached) and you will be surprised how your entire engine will wake up. They really do work well together as a trio.

I also installed these new plugs and find my engine is smoother and more responsive (better mileage too): http://www.e3sparkplugs.com Advance Auto Parts has them for a pretty good price of $6.99 each. That is half of what iridiums will cost and $2.00 each cheaper than WC Whitney's price. The plugs also come with a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. The biggest gains can be felt with 4V Cobras and especially with the '03/'04 supercharged models. I just have the 2V GT and still realize the effortless acceleration and better gas mileage.

Next beef up your brakes.....go fast, gotta stop too. Lots of ways to do that. Fastest way is to get some of the slotted rotors with higher performance brake pads such as Hawk, Steeda, EBC, etc. The entire kits with the oversized rotors and new calipers can get kind of costly, up to you though. Check this out: http://steeda.com Brake pads are on sale now at Steeda!

Try some rear upper control arms that will really hold your rearend in place for better starts and handling. Best bang for the buch is Ford Racing's. Works well, I noticed a difference immediately. I changed my struts, shocks and quads at the same time as the Steeda sport springs as the suspension was already apart. Tokico blue struts and shocks with KYB quads. Big difference in handling with this set up.

I know these items above will work well on your model because I have them installed on a '98 GT. Good luck!

Just FYI, the intake boltons are nearly worthless on a NPI GT. MM&FF did a test on this, you can look it up on the web. The stock NPI engine just doesn't flow enough air to take advantage.

A PI swap is just the ONLY way to go on these cars. The only downside is the compression ratio is raised, so it won't take to boost as well.

Either get the PI swap or save up for a 99-04 GT.

Anything else...is just uncivilized!

my friend... he's a member on here kev96gt .. bought a 99 - 01 engine for 45 bucks. That would leave you $1455 to put the heads and intake on. Look for an entire newer motor, even if the bottom in is trash you can probably still use the heads/intake.

I wouldn't buy a 96-98 GT without a PI swap kit sitting in the garage already
