Not much if any. Most people buy them because they are reusable cotton filters.

Default RE: K & N Air Filters

I installed a K&N filter and throttle body (air intake performance kit) to my '96 Mustang GT. The car definately has more "spunk" went getting on it through first and second gears and maybe even a little through third. The air intake is a bit noisy but I kind of like the sound of that air sucking into the engine.

It does seem to create a bit of a back-pressure problem when letting off the gas. I suspect it is sucking a bit more air into the engine and the exhaust system just can't quite handle it. Just a minor annoyance though.

HP gain? I dunno. What a 120K motor needed to perk it up a little? definately. With the washable filter it will pay for itself in 3 years over replacing the paper cone filter.
