I recently purchased a 80mm mass air meter for my 96 gt. project car.The seller told me that the meter was calibrated for stock cobra injectors, but then told me it was calibrated for 19lb. injectors. [:@]Do the 1998 cobras have 19 or 24lb injectors.
There is etching on the top of the maf.....it says 80mm.....1998 cobra...then a bunch of #'s It's made by Pro-Flo???????
I never heard of it, but it does work, I installed it on my car with 19lb injectors. I idled good and ran smooth all the way to redline. I also wondered what would happen if it is infact made for 24lb injectors and Iran it with 19lb injectors.
I checked the plugs, they looked normal, but I only ran the car for 15min @idle, went through a few key cycles, then drove it only for 5 miles. No check engine light has come on. Ohh I only paid $40 w/ shipping. [:-] Thanks for your help

You MAF is only going to tell your ECU how much air is going in..

Normally, w/ MAS/MAF, you'll get MAF/MAS Overrun, when there is more air than the car is programmed to handle, which usually means the car cuts out, to prevent an overly lean condition (detonation, melting, breaking, etc...).

I think iff it's calibrated for 24lb injectors, I'm pretty sure it means that it can account for as much air as 24lb injectors can handle. I don't know specifically, since most of the cars I've dealt w/, use MAP sensors, or the MAF/MAS is hacked, and is worked using standalone management....

Yeah. there is no cutting out, so do the 96-98 Cobra's have 24lb. injectors or are they 19lbs? If they are 24's i'll just upgrade to 24's, it can't hurt.
