CAI installed today
I installed my CAI intake today, I got one of those $40 ones off ebay.
I had heard mixed reviews so, I was skeptical.
It went in really easy, only thing missing were two bolts that I need to get at a hardware store.
I didn't notice a HUGE difference in power, however the throttle response is much better, and the sound is impressive.
I've had any experience with a BBK or K&N (or any other name brand intakes), so I have nothing but stock to compare it to.
But I'd say just for the throttle response alone it was worth it, and if I get better gas milage, that'll be a plus.
Although if I'd paid $150 or so for the name brand ones and this was all the difference I noticed, I'd be pissed. lol
But for $40 I can't complain, plus that shiny metal looks a whole lot better under the hood!
I know, my engine bay is terribly dirty. [:-]

RE: CAI installed today
I have the same intake as you and after running it for a few months here are issues you will need to look out for
1). The hose clamps on the connection after the MAF seem to get lose and once i had them become disconnected, apparently this is due to the cheap silicon becoming soft due to engine heat and allowing the clamp to slip.
2). On mine the tube near the gas cap was too close and needed to be bend to prevent interference, no biggie but just fyi.
Lastly I hose clamped all connections to make sure nothing would ever come lose.

I'm so confused by why you guys keep talking about gas cap.
doesn't the gas cap light connect to a sensor where you put the gas into your car? how would a loose cai trigger that specific idiot light? and which tube on the cai goes to the gas cap? [sm=dontgetit.gif]
are you guys talking about some other "gas cap"? oil cap maybe?

RE: CAI installed today
Thanks guys for the heads up on the problems! Good to know.
I was thinking of replacing that silicone with some good high quality hose.
And yeah, an engine detail is on the list. This week is finals week
then I'm on my way home, and I'll have more time and money for my car!
YAY!! I'm gonna have fun this summer.
