Default chattering noise

all right guys this is driving me crazy.. around 2k rpm no matter if clutch is engaged or not, moving or sitting still theres a chattering noise.. its boggling my mind, cant seem to locate it. sounds like its coming from the trans. but the car still drives as it did pre the noise. no power loss, crazy idle or anything! any one had the same issue or idea, or sugestion?

good this is im saving gas bc i shift right at 2k so i dont have to hear it. lol

stock clutch? does your pedal ever seem to stick at all? Mine is doing the same thing, but my throwout bearing is sheared in half so thats what is causing it.

Are you sure its coming from the trans? .... The noise you described happened to a friend of mine and it was the waterpump bearings. His car was not a mustang, but I guess it could be the same thing. You might want to give it a try. GOOD LUCK!

It could also be a loose heat shield on one of the cats.

Could be that you are lugging the engine and getting that nasty chatter.

What gear? What speeds?

My car does the same thing. Doesn't matter what RPM, or if the clutch is engauged or not, doesn't matter if you moving or not. It really sounds like its coming for the transmission area. I have a king cobra clutch[:@] and an o/r x pipe so it could be a throw out bearing but it wouldn't be a heat shield. I can take the shift boot off and it really sounds like it's coming from the transmission area. I don't think its internal on the transmission though because if it was it would stop when the clutch is pushed in. It also doesn't do it all the time just sometimes so I'm completely lost.

Sound like a throwout bearing or possibly a input shaft bearing in the transmission. POS Tremec 3650

My car just got out of the shop for the same problems mentioned. I needed a bearing overhaul in my POS Tremec 3650.
