OMG I THINK I AM SCREWED

RE: OMG I THINK I AM SCREWED
the story goes: My car has never ran extremly smooth, so alot of people said it might be time for a tune-up. All i did was unbolted the screw and took the boot off the spark plug to just look at it. I didnt have the tool to remove the spark plug so i didnt touch it and i put the boot back in and tightened up the screw and drove around the corner. I immediatly noticed that the car was jerking really bad and when i reved it, teh car was kinda shaking and sounded like it had a bunch of water in it or something. I then took the boot of because i thought i just didnt put it on right and i did this about 3 times and couldnt figure out why its still doing that, so around the 4th time i tightned it really tight but ended up stripping the screw in the process. I kept driving like this and my CEL light came on, so it didnt get any worse from me stripping that screw.

RE: OMG I THINK I AM SCREWED
Stripping the bolt wouldnt do any thing, unless some how put a crack in the intake which sounds like it doesnt have one. I would take to some one with a scan tool (or i guess scanner as everyone else knows), see what the dtc (diagnostic trouble code) is. By looking at the picture im taking thats the front plug on the driver side right? That would be #5 cylinder, if it comes up with a missfire on that cylinder get that coil out some how and switch it with the coil behind it, if the misfire goes to that cylinder (#6) then its more then likely a bad coil (pretty common), if it stays on that cylinder then you have another issue. If doesnt come up with a specfic cylinder misfire, just says multipile cylinder misfire do a tune up, INCLUDING a Fuel Filter. Ford 4.6 motors dont like clogged fuel filters, they run lean and will eat valves (im not saying yours did im just saying its an important basic maintance thing offten forgotten by every one including may shops).

you can get some apoxy glue, the two part stuff that works as a filler, fill the hole, let it dry, drill a new hole, and thread the screw back in, good as new. but for the engine problem, beats me.

i cant believe this but the whole time, the problem was just that i forgot to reconnect my MAF, I feel so stupid, but i still got that stripped screw so thanx for all the input on how to fix that.
