RE: advice plz?
87,000 miles is not all that much, these motors are built with about .0008" (8 ten-thousands) of clearance in the main and rod bearings, you have maybe worn .0001"-.0002" off the bearings. Once you get around 120,000 on switch to the 10w30.

5w-40 would be fine, what that means is it when it gets hot it will get not thinner then a 5 weight, and when its cold its not thicking then 40w, and living in florida i think it would be safe to say it want get that cold.

a wrench or one of those filter claws work just fine for the filter and the oil drain plug is a 5/8 and your car should only take 5 quarts of oil.

it can vary from car to car, thats the down side on fords, they can vary their parts sometimes. iv seen a 4.2 v6 take 8 quarts, didnt believe it, so I paid for the 8 quarts my self, drained it, and had some one else to fill it to make sure, sure enough took 8 quarts. Others have only took 6.

Before you use the oil filter wrench, try with your hand first. You should beable to loosen and tighten it with your hand(unless I have monkey grip). Then bring the wrench back to the store.

RE: advice plz?
Just got done changing the oil. I used my leathery man hands to grip and get the oil filter off and out It's actually very easy to take off because of the room you have and leverage you can get under the car. In my 1.8L mazda that was a different story [:@]
To my surprise, the car only took 5 quarts even when I let the engine run for 20 min and checked the oil again, it was beyond the maximum oil level. odd...

RE: advice plz?
you know its the weirdest damn thing, some cars do take 5.5...mine take 5, my friends take 5, another friend of mine take 6. I think in 2002 it switched to 6 quarts. I spent 6 months as a lube tech for ford and then for a local shop....its amazing how much you can learn in 6 months. Especially like that other dude said there is a 4.2 out there that takes 8 quarts. I went through every book and even called the local parts store to confirm that number.
