Just stick the hot wire into the fuse box with a fuse and ground the black wire somewhere or buy a fuse tap from the auto store. My advise would be to get a fuse tap from the auto store.

I would just recommend a nice lunar guage module from autometer or some e-l glow white face guages if your looking for ambient light at night. Just my opinion. I had a neon inside the cab of my first car (ranger) and it threw a helluva glare on the inside of the windows. It came out 2 days after I installed it. But to each is own. There should be a power point in the console (under the flip up lid) if you dont want to cut the 12v plug off the wire find a way to run the cord into (under the console and just plug it in there) that way it'll be hidden.
