type of oil after headswap
When doing a PI swap is 5W30 the way to go? I am using 10w30 now. It seems my engine eats that oil up. I might have bad valve seals, the motor has 95,000 on it. I just want to be able to put in something that will hopefully last 4000 miles or atleast 3,000. I plan on using Royal Purple right now I use moble one fully synthetic. Thanks

probably the valve seals if your bottom end is fine. I am gonna be replacing just my seals soon (the method w/o pulling the heads off) and I plan on running a synthetic. 5w30 is reccomended for most engines up until around 2000 or 2001 where they changed to 5W20. 5W20 is only a synthetic blend.
Don't try to push your oil too far past 3000 if you drive with a lot of stop and go and idling

Running at high RPM's can also consume a fairly decent amount of oil over time... In fact, oil should be changed ideally between 2500-3500 miles. After that, unless the oil is filtered through an additional system, it loses it's viscocity...
It's always best, to put in your run of the mill oil, prime the engine, start it, run it for a little while (about 500-750 miles) to clean out any crap that may have ended up in your engine, or any additional assembly lube. Change the oil again, W/ filter, and then you should be okay..
Always a good idea to flush your engine w/ clean oil, and then change it after the internals have been touched.. Just a personal safety precaution..
