Default window switch for my nitrous

I ordered the digital window window switch for my nitrous and was wondering where I should hook into to get a tach signal for the box. Is there one place that is better than another?

Ok, I know I should hook it to the negative wire coming out of the coil pack. Now this may be a stupid questions but I don't want to get this wrong. There is a red wire coming out of each coil pack and a colored wire (different color depending on the coil) with a stripe down it. I am guessing the red wire is the positive and the striped wire is the ground but I really want to make sure since I don't have a volt meter.

Also, is there a good way to test the window switch before I throw the nitrous on it. I would hate to have it wired wrong and end up spraying at 1800 RPM's or something stupid like that.
