Ok, hopefully someone can help give me some kind of direction with this problem. I have a 2000 GT 5spd. My car rattles VERY LOUD when I'm above about 1900rpm and its under VERY LIGHT throttle. When i take my foot off the gas or give it more gas the noise stops. Though, if I'm smashing the gas it rattles after about 4000rpm. The rattle gets faster as the rpms go up. It is louder in first and second gear, a little quieter in 3rd, even quieter in 4th, and i havent heard it in 5th but that may be because of wind noise at 80mph lol. It doesnt sound like an internal rattle, it sounds like a loud exhaust rattle actually, but i havent been able to find anything. It doesnt have to be in gear to rattle either. if its out of gear and i bring the rpms up above 2000 then raise them slowly it rattles. Oh, and i should probably mention that when the car is cold, or has been sitting for a couple hours, it takes until about 2300rpm to start rattling. Being that I live in a town that gets many tourists and college kids, this is very embarassing. Can anyone give me any kind of direction, where to start, what else to check, get more details?

Well, that sounds exactly like the problem I have now. check your engine oil, make sure its in there. I didnt have oil in mine but the oil pressure guage was not working so I had no idea. Other than that im not sure, but thats a place to start. Good luck.

Any other ideas guys? should i swap it out for a cobra motor? what am i lookin at with that? It it a straight swap? what matches up? Ive wanted an excuse to swap a cobra motor in, do i have one?
