Default Mustang Bullitt

Hey, i am about to purchase a car i am considering the Bullitt or srt 4. They say the Bullitt gets 25/high 18 city. ALso a stock Mustang GT gets the same MPG yet weighs 300-400 pounds more how are they getting the same mpg? Also i currently have 91 3000gt VR4, will a Bullitt's insurance be more than a VR4? I rather have the Bullitt, but if the car only gets 25mpg i much rather have the SRT 4 that gets 30mpg! Does anyone know if the Bullitt gets better mpg due to its lighter weight? And if i granny shift it what do you think the best MPG i can get out the car?

ur on the wrong forum man, this is a mustang forum. If you ask anybody they will just tell you to get a GT and if you complain about mpg then go buy a honda. Not to sound harsh

But even though the Bullitt is about 300lbs lighter the mpg will still be the same as a normal GT ? Any one who owns a Bullitt know? Lol theres no way i am getting a honda.

there is no way its 300lbs lighter. if anything it might be heavier due to bigger brakes and aluminum intake manifold vs. plastic.

The bullitt has lighter suspension componants and such, plus I believe the wheels are forged aluminum... dont quote me on that). The seats are a little but lughter... no spoiler = like 5 lbs off... little stuff adds up. What hurts it is the bigger intake, higher performance motor, which is why it has approx the same gas mileage. Also remember EPA ratings are AVERAGEs. I have a 32v DOHC Mach 1, and manage a 19 City and 28 Hwy.. when I drive it right (shifting before 2400 rpms, etc) When I drive it hard and race all the little imports.... I get much less, but its worth the smile :P

As for insurance, The bullitt is a limited edition car, so it might be more, not sure. I know the 91 vr4 will be cheaper insurance wise, but will fall apart more, and things will break. I have a friend with a 93(i think) vr4 he never raced, and hes replaced the trans twice and the head gasket once... and he got it with 3,000 miles on it.

ANd don't get an SRT4, they mechanically break down in 3-4 years due to the high stresses placed on the motor, and they arent worth a s*** in a crash... ask code3gt about that.

Oh yea, and did I mention the bullitt was limited production? Make sure its a real bullitt... Get the VIN and go Vin decoder
