full bolt on gt

RE: full bolt on gt
In my opinion these replies are just crazy. I dont have that much done to my 2000 Gt and i run 13.2 time and time again. This is with 3.73 gears and no power shifting. If i power shifted and had a good day i could probably score a 13 flat or high 12's. Granted the LS1 is a monster stock, my GT has been a fun expeirence. I lack 64 cubic inches from a LS1. If and when i get smoke by 1 i understand, the 4.6 has a lack of torque at a low RPM and the LS1's cubic inch makes up for that. I think a full bolt on GT would be able to get low 12's with the right track conditions and suspension work. Keep going mustang community and just buy the GT, they sound awesome and the people are great.

ls1s have huge displacement, but they cannot be launched. I have seen this from the first hand perspective. They have good top end power, but suck down low. If you were getting a cobra or ls1, I would go with cobra, just because its just as fast stock, and looks better(not 25ft long like an f-body LOL). The GT is nice, but get real. If you are looking purely for best 1/4mile times, get the ls1. Mustangs have better looks, but 2vs just arent fast enough without doing some nice mods to them which WILL cost a lot of money.

RE: full bolt on gt
yeah a full bolt on GT can be nasty,,,, main thing is kno how to drive and be able to get the power to the pavement.....i am far from a full bolt on and with stock street tires i pulled off a 8.89 1/8th (which is about a 13.9 1/4) with my auto tranny. There are guys at my track with full bolt on GT's and even a supercharged non PI that are running 9.3-9.5 and my friend with a 03 Mach 1 putting out 345rwhp cant break into the 9's !!!!! so there is a lot to it.
