I'm guessing your 245s are just the stock gatorbacks or at least regular street tires, if that is the case then when you go to the track you will want to do a very short burnout- just a couple seconds to get the tires a little warm and get any water/crap others have tracked into the lane. Once stages rev your engine to about 2000-2500rpm and feather the clutch out while progressively giving it more gas. It Takes a butload of practice but you'll get it. With your IRS and street tires I would be impressed if you ever cut any better than 1.9 in the 60'. I would suggest getting a good set of drag radials (MT/BFG) -Nittos kinda suck at the track- and then you could take her up to 3500-4000 and repeat the process. In that case you would have to be pretty careful not to break a halfshaft though.

just a quick question, when ur lanching the car at 2500+ are you causing a lot of damage to the clutch? My grandfather was a machinic for ford for 40 years and he was telling me that you are doin considerable damage everytime you dump the clutch at anything higher than 2k

launching below 3000 rpms and walking the clutch out or feathering it out won't cause any horrible damage to the stock clutches unless you are pushing serious power. I'm not saying its good on the clutches but its a lot better than dumping it from 5K +.
