Default Tire Space ?

I was looking at my rear tires the other day, and I was thinking of how I would like to put some 315's in the back when I do my wheels hopefully end of the summer.

I got down underneath there... How in the HELL are you guys fitting 315's let alone 335's back there? My exhaust pipes are pretty damn close to my tires as it is?

Am I missing something?

LoL, ok yea I knew I must be missing something.

With that being said though, how come some people can't fit 335s or 315s in the back? Because I always hear about people saying they can't fit them or they get rub, when others have no problem at all?

ANd I know a lower car would make a difference is you wanted to run an extra tall tire, but does lowering have to do with the width of tires? Like just because Im lowered 2' I couldn't fit 315s or does that not matter with width?

all depends on the backspacing/offset of the rims

Yes, backspace and offset play a big role, but also sidewall height of the tire, and if you go 18" you can only get 10 inch wide. so.. you will wanna go a little smaller whereas on a 17x10.5 you can go a touch wider.

Ok well when I do my wheels, Im not putting 17's back on... So that will reduce my spacing I guess like you said.

I will most likely be going with the White Saleens 18x10 in the rear and 18x9 in the front. The front has a 24mm offset and the back has a 22mm offset (which is what I found the wheels to be on the website)

So with that being said, give me a guestimate on how wide I would be able to run in the back?

You don't think you would be able to run anything bigger than that?

I noticed that the "best fit" for the 18x10 is the 285, so maybe that it. No chance of getting 315's on there?

There may be a car or 2 around here with 18s and 315s but I'm not sure they are lowered. Mine is lowered, and I probably could have went with 305s but just opted for the 295s cuz i knew they'd fit. I have 18x9 in front with 275/35-18s and 18x10 in back with 295/35-18s and a 1.75" drop. No rubbing whatsoever, but I don't let anyone ride in the back, because I think if I hit a bump or dip in the road hard enough my rear tires my meet my rear quarter panels.
