Default Tips/Hints for removing stock shifter...

I'm installing my ST shfter. Needless to say the stock shifter is on there really good because of that damn sealant. I've tried using the stock handle to loosin it, but it won't really budge. Anyone got any advice?

I had attached the stock shifter level, put it into a gear, and yanked left and right on the shifter, it took a few pulls but it popped off

I used a flathead and a hammer and walked it off.
