Can someone please explain gear ratios

RE: Can someone please explain gear ratios
Just think of it as a ten speed bike, when you are in the lowest gear you can take off realy fast like 3.73 or 4.10 would do to your car, Now imagin you are in 4th on your bike ond you try to take off, doesnt work so good witch is kinda like the gearing you have now 2.73or3.08 witch are too high... But you wont go any faster you will be quicker as like your bike, you cant go vary fast in 1st gear, though yor tranny takes care of that problem. So it basicaly it boils down too you will get off the line quicker and your acceleration will be better. Hope this helps. oooooo i almost forgot thees gears are in your rear differential btw.

Depends on your situation. If you have a FI car or are planning on FI go with 3.73's. If you have N/A and plan on staying N/A most people say go with 4.10's. Some peopel say 4.10's is overkill some people say its not.

N/A = Naturally Aspirated (when you dont have a supercharger or turbocharger)

The higher the gear ratio the higher your RPM's will be at highway speeds 3.73 won't be to bad but with 4.10 you'll probably be running about 3000 rpms at around 70 mph. But some people only cruise around town with there stangs so 4.10 are reasonable, I wouldn't be going on any road trips with 4.10's.
