RE: What will it take to beat a stock LS1
pi swap with ported and polished heads, stage one cams, bullet intake and a 100 shot. control arms, stall, shift kit and drag radials for the win. a non pi car makes more power than a pi car because of the higher compression thus with new heads and cams and bolt ons you could see 280 hp to the wheels plus the 100 shot and you should be beating stock ls1's a modded lsx based car will be a challege, but you will catch a lot of them off guard for the win cuz no one respects the early 4.6 cars

Ive drove the LS1 before and took them to the track. They are not all that fast. I think with a good stall and 4.10s or 4.30s and maybe a 125 shot of nitrous you will walk on an LS1 but maybe im wrong.

So you have driven stock LS1's and they dont feel fast... what does your car feel like?
Actually when i've driven them I have noticed there power seems to be a little more tame... while especially the older stangs feel rough. Trust me the LS1 is much much much quicker despite what you feel.

I ran a 13.55 with the mods in my sig. My brother has a 2002 Camaro with a LS1 which we race together almost every day. He will usually spank me from the line, but if we roll off at about 20 I can almost stay on his bumper. By the time the race is over (maybe 110mph) he's usually pulled about a car on me. I have a 03 GT which is about 40+/- HP more than your car stock, plus I have more mods. Just to give you and idea.

Spend $0.50 & buy a potatoe. Stick it up the LS1's tailpipe just before the race & you'll PWN him!

I can beat most STOCK LS1's in my car... although there are some out there that are stock that beat me... whatever the T/A options they have with the lower gearing - those are still very much a challenge.... for now.
Oh, and the LS1s running 12's are very much a rarity. That's like seeing a SRT8 Charger hit a 12... they are consistantly a low to mid second 13. In order for those to hit 12's they need to have someone who knows exactly how to drive that car, with the option of the lower gearing in it from the factory. Isn't there also an option for the lid from the factory? but the bottom line is, is that 98 of 100 LS1's won't run a 12 second stock qtr mile.
