Default Weak Points of SN Cobra

Im going to be gettin a 96-98 cobra before too long. What are some of the weak points of these cars? Things like the heads being crappy like the GT ones, and transsmission problems, stuff like that. Any thing you guys can tell me would be very helpful.

96 cobras have cooling problems
tranys aren't the strongest
pistons suck for boost if you see any detonation
not as cheap to mod as a 5.0

heads flow pretty well though, and the motors really respond to boost. forged crank and teskid blocks can handle a ton of power

Dont know about hte 96 cooling problems...

They take very well to all mods, you get a lot of response out of them. The t-45's are fine if you shift normal, but dont powershift it or you'll be replacing it in a heartbeat.

They really need steeper gears becuase of the powerband and they also need a heavier clutch to be able tolaunch them right.. Both those mods helped me on the street a LOT.

+1
mine lasted about 10 times down the track powershifting it before I broke the 3-4 shift fork. Had to pretty much tear the whole tranny down to replace it.

Did they not make a 5.0 cobra?

My cousin has a 96 and his didnt have the cooling problem but has the tranny problem its the syncros in the cobras it will grind from first to second if you shift fast at high rpm the 93 cobras are becoming a collector car now the 94 and 95 cobras are aight you got the 5.0 but the 96-98 cobras have the hood and front bumper and you get about 300HP right out of the box

I got a Fluidyne 3 core aluminum radiator, rebuilt the transmission, put in 3.73's among other things. I runs great. Its gonna get the bottom end built shortly. My over flow tank leaks after I run it hard so I ordered a new one. Your IMRC rails may leak around the bearrings if you add boost and you will have to replace them or rebuild. I removed the butterfly so now they ride wide open instead of opening at 3200 rpms.
