I think a lot of it has to do with the way you drive. 500rwhp is a whole lot on the stock internals. Probably to much. My KB has done me well at 9psi. Just keep the rpm's under 5500 with 3.73's

i run my car all the time up to redline at 6500rpms without problems.... it may not be a smart thing to do... but the car hasnt lost compression and is still running perfect without any problems...

Don't mean to hijack but. If 400 @ the wheels is safe, does it make sense on a stock car to just do the blower and maybe an o/r pipe & cat-back, then just boost and tune your way to 400rwhp?

400rwhp is the max I would go with stock internals. And another thing, with just a 1.7 KB and tune with nothing else, your really only looking at maybe 350rwhp, but with exhaust and intake mods, you should be good not going over 400rwhp.

i've read that the windsor with the 8bolt is generally good til about 450 and the romeo with the 6bolt is closer to 400 before they crap out on you, this said
99-01 are windsor usually
02+ are usually romeo but some windsors have made it into 02 i think
to check which you have...look at the valve covers the romeo blocks have 11 bolts and the windsor has 13 on one side and 14 one the other(can't remember how many on which side)

With 60K on it I would check the oil pressure with a good gauge and do a compression test. If its up to snuff then around 400 RWHP should run fine for quite a while, anything up around 450 and I think your looking for trouble, good luck.

My Mechanic built a 4.6l with a Kenne bell at 14psi, pulley swap, supporting fuel mods, intake/exhaust and a built rear end on stock heads/cams that dyno'd at over 700hp and its been working fine till this day..
im swapping my tranny out for a manual..working on my rear end so it wont snap and then tuning my car and hoping to get somewhat the same results, and i have stock heads and cams..ill let you know if my car blows up lmao!

Do you have a stock rotating assembly also? If so theres no way you'll see 700rwhp without sending a rod through the side of your block....
