Anything wider than a 285 on a 18x9' rim will compromise the tires performance characteristics. Do you plan on autoX-ing your car? If you do with 315, it will compromise the tires contact patch. I wouldn't go any bigger than 285's. If you want wider rubber, get some 18x10's for the back. BTW, I run 18x10's on my rears with 295/35/18's. I might consider a 305, but I wouldn't even try a 315.

yeah.. but like you said it is a 17" rim.. they dont really make tires that wide for 18" rims .. at least I have never seen any.. the largest I have ever seen for an 18" wheeel is 295..

yeah.. 315's look sweet but just keep in mind that you will not find a tire that big for 18's

And I never questioned the 17" rim, guy just made the comment about them being cobra rims.
