Default New Springs = Steering Shaking?

I put some FRPP lowering springs on my 99 GT Saturday, they make the car look great and all, but when im rolling at over 50MPH, my steering starts to shake a bit. ANy ideas on whats up or what I might of mis-adjusted?

Usually when you lower a car your alignment angles change. Get it aligned your problems will go away. Keep in mind though when you lower a stang you might need caster/camber plates as some of the angles cant be put where they need to be, namely the caster. Get it aligned.

Did you torque your wheel lugs when you were done?? If not, you may have put your wheels on sort of "crooked."

Otherwise, you may not have put everything on correctly, or snugged up all of your bolts... My guess is w/ Option 1...

the only reason i can think of with steering wheel shaking is because of an alignment problem... :/

What kind of shaking though??

Normally an alignment issue will cause the car to pull, or kill your tires...

Unless one of your ball joints/tierods is bad, and by lowering the car, you amplified your problem...

Specifically, if i were to let my hands off the wheel, it would rotate slightly left, then slightly right, very quickly, Like going over a crappy old bumpy road.

i took mine to the dealership for some popping and noises in the front suspension, they said a control arm was binding and they fixed it and aligned it.. now mine does exactly the same thing, except it stops at about 75-80 mph

Well you should do a number of things:

1. GET YOUR ALIGNMENT CHECKED!!!
2. Not sure how much you lowered but if it's more the 1.5" and especially if it's 2" get caster camber plates.
3. Look into a bumpsteer kit and/or off set stering rack bushings

^ EXACTLY. If over 1.5, then C&C plates are a must. Otherwise, bumpsteer and/or offset rack bushings. You can do all three if you wish. I added offsets and an alignment and I have no issues.

Per Maximum Motorsports, offset rack bushings do more harm than good.

If none of the above work, turn the rotors, a warped rotor will also cause a shimmy
