Default Sticky Gas Pedal???

Well today on my way home from work, on a long open rode I decide to get it on it a bit for the first time in a while and i go through 2nd, shift into 3rd and then I go to shut it down but the rpms keep gaining!!!! I was freaking out like what the hell is going on right now, so as it hit around 6200 I quickly just turned off my car becaus I didn't want to blow my damn motor and then I rolled to the next stop sign. The car runs fine, I got on it again it's no slower so I didn't throw a rod or anything, but what do you guys think could have happened?? Sometimes my floormat gets on the gas pedal, but I don't think that was what did it, any ideas?? Maybe a sticky throttle body cable??

Sticky throttle cable, sticky throttle body. Spray some silicone luricant down the throttle cable. As for the TB, remove the air tube look in there, is there a bunch of gunk inside there? If so use some carb and choke cleaner to remove it.

I'd say it is the cable, mine did that in my old stang. the cable was F***ED up and the cable got caught on something.
Least you didn't let go of the wheel and scream like a girl would have. lol
