That's because a lighter flywheel gives you back horsepower that is eaten up by the engine having to rev a heavier flywheel. Now, instead of losing 25% of your hosepower through your drivetrain like most cars do, you are only losing like 22%.
More like 20% for an auto and 15% for manual. With an Al flywheel and driveshaft, an auto might get down to 15%. It's the transmission that really drains hp.

hey tellowman24.. wanted to ask you, did you need to discharge your air conditioner to take the engine out? because I would think you could un bolt the compressor and let it hang there... just wondering because I am planning a swap myself

i just took the motor out of my cobra and didnt discharge the a/c. just unbolt the compressor from the block.

they get their info from ford... ford's just trying ot make more money by adding a few useless steps

man I have the willingness, tools and access to the special equipment to do an engine swap I just need the engine to go in! haha

I really hate my current engine

we use shopkey, it has good info most of the time, but sometimes it sends you thru extra stuff thats not needed. good luck with your motor swap when you get your motor, gotta run now.

thanks man... yeah it's got good info but sometimes it tells me stuff i can't physically do too... but it gets its info from ford so what can you expect
