Default Early 4.6 vs. new 4.6 -- 1/4 mile

A question about comparing 1/4 time of stock 4.6 Mustangs. My 05 GT manual runs a 14.01 @ 100mph. I have not driven earlier 4.6 Stangs and just wonder what their stock times were. So much of the suspension and drive train has changed, not to mention 2 valve - 3 valve - 4 valve. But I am mainly interested in what the stock GT's ran. Also what kind of top end have people found. Rags talk about 148mph drag limited on the 05. All I know now is it gets to 110 like falling out of bed.

99-04 with a good driver runs 14.0-14.3. Some get 13.9.

The 96-98's were pretty slow.. auto's low 15's and sticks high 14's. The 99-04 was autos mid-high 14's auto and low 14's (sometimes a 13.9) to mid 14's. The Cobra's 96-98 were a 13.9-14.3 and the 99 and 01's were capable of a mid 13, but was very rare.. most people cannot launch an IRS cobra as well.. and the 03/04 cobra's were capable of high 12's. THe machs regulary run mid 13's stick and high 13's auto.

The 05/06 in perfect conditions can run a mid 13 stick I thought? I know around here I ahve only seen low 14's/high 13's.

You ' re absolutely right about what those mustangs run. Different people will always come up with different #s but the most common times those cars were run were correct. I know what u mean about the Cobras. They should run low 13s to high 12s here but i have only seen like mid 13s- mid 14s. people can not drive them.
