Default wtf is up with the NPI guys?

I know this is slightly off topic but after I posted about my engine giving me problems, what is it with all these other NPI guys having problems where they need new engines??? are the NPI engines not as durable as the PI ones as well???

This makes me feel not so bad as I'm not the only one with a problematic engine.... time to start saving for my PI!!!

before my engine swap my npi motor had 115k on it with absolutely no problems. guess it depends how the previous owner took care of it.

Nothing to do with durability. There were a few known problems with the first year or two of PI engines. The intake manifold cracking was one of them. Weak OEM head gaskets is another. Once these problems are taken care of on your particular car if they haven't been already, you're golden.

i'm thinking about rebuilding my engine myself... after I get my beater car... what do ya guys think?

I'll lh ave the block honed/machined by a shop and then put it together myself with new bearings etc... possibly even a forged rotating assembly... what's the cost of this, roughly? any ideas??

Try Racer Walsh their one of my old parts place when I was circle tracking ford motors. They do alot of circle track/road racing with fords, and they now their stuff. They dont list much on their website for 4.6's but in their catalog they list alot, cams, pistions rods etc. Even a set of cylinder heads iv been curious about. Maybe some one on here nows something about them, there for a 2v motor heres the description on them
"Hi-Performance 2v 4.6L Heads"
All new cylinder head assembly for a 35HP increase over production SOHC heads. Flows approximately 27% increase on intake and 44% increase on exhaust. 51cc combustion chamber. Center line moved 2mm closer to chamber center line to in effect unshroud the intake valave for increased flow. Easy bolt on power for your 2v Mustang GT"

Are these just PI heads or a actual re-design? Im just curious, i own a 4 valver.

Is there a huge difference with the PI swap? how much did it cost you?

Race your car stock vs. a 99+ car stock.... you'll see the difference.

rebuilding it with a forged assembly will cost you 3 at the very least, forged assemblies aren't cheap plus youd want new heads and then getting the block honed. id stick with the 1200$ +/- pi engine swap.
