Default anyone else have rear brake issues??

i was just wondering if anyone else had any issues when installing new rear brakes on an 01 or anywhere around there GT. Just got a set of hawk pads and brembo rotors for the rear and one of the brake pads DOES NOT want to go into the caliper bracket on both sides. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

so you mean the pad is too big for the bracket? are they even the right ones? try comparing them to the old ones to see if they're the same

make sure your e-brake is not engaged, this will push the piston out too far, and you'll never get it back together.

I don't want to come across as an *******, but this has been covered in great length in the last few months.. Apparently PBR didn't design the Caliper that well, since the rear guide pins are prone to seizing in the bore in the bracket..

The only ways I've been able to salvage them, is to torch the bracket until it red-hot, and work it back and forth to get it out. The problem now is, that you need to clean the bore, and buff out the guide pins, just to make it "sort of," work again. You also need to grease them well, but not too much, and re-install NEW rubber boots to protect them again..

This works about 50% of the time, where they are fixed, and never give you problems again... It'd probably be more beneficial and more cost effective to purchase new calipers and just install them as such... It's a shame that the usual Core charge for the Rear Calipers is around $100...

well, i finally got both pads into the bracket, after a couple of hours of struggling.....and my caliper is shot to hell. It seized up, and the piston won't turn back in. talk about freakin lame brakes. so now i need to ask...besides tire rack, who carries cheap (but quality) calipers? I really don't want to resort to going to auto zone, but I'm desperate.

thanks again
