? on rear end play
I had my car in the shop today having brakes done and the mechanic told me i have about a 1/4 inch of play on the drivers side rear end and that im going to have to have the rear done soon. is this true? or do the 98 model stangs have a lil play in the rear?

If it's on the in/out, then it could be a potentially bad thing... Since you have a pin, that goes through the LSD, and basically prevents the axles from going in too far, and then you have C-Clip style washers that hold the axles in, there should be minimal play in the axle's in/out..
Now, if it's up and down, the you have a more serious problem, since the axle bearings are usually pretty tight, and hold the axle in w/ minimal play... If it's going up and down a 1/4in, it could also mean that your LSD, gears, bearings, and any Raceways that are involved, are probably toast...
That's just a theory.. You should have someone look at it, like a Trans-shop, or a good friend who knows about cars...
