Default Important Mods

After driving a Jeep for over two years I want something completely different and fast. I have decided to purchase a 99-01 GT and want to know what sort of mods I should look into to improve the handling, speed, and looks of the car. Good websites help too, thanks.

i went from a jeep to a mustang, and trust me you wont be dissapointed.

as far as what you want out of the car, be more specific. what kinda budget, what end results do you want. track driver, straight line hauler, ect...

most people here will say the first thing you need to do is gears, then exhaust (headers/midpipe/catback) and then some nitto's and maybe lower c/a's, a lowering kit ect... on the top of this section, theres a sticky for all the common 4.6 mods, read up =)

I was hoping there was a thread for this, thanks for telling me. I don't need something super fast (as a 0-60 in 26 seconds for my Jeep was slow) but I want something that handles better. How much are gears?

4.10/4.30 gears are about $200 or you can go to mustangtuning.com and get a package with gears, and a diablo tuner for around 400, deff worth it

Should I go with 4.10 or 4.30 gears? Do I need to go that low?

the higher the ratio the more rpms you will run at high miles, switchin to 410 will run around 2800 rpms at 70 mph i beleive, if your city driving its great if your highway driving its a bit more ware and drops your mpg a bit

Dude, you don't want something that is to fast. Buy a honda. Mustangs are all about power, modifications, and performance. It's the affordable sports car that you can make into a monster.

They are never fast enought!
