Default AutoMeter Boost Gauge Question

I had an AutoMeter boost gauge installed with my blower. I thought it was kind of lame that it didn't light up when I turned on my lights but thought "whatever".

Tonight, I turn my brights on for the first time since I had it back and, voila, my boost meter lights up.

So, I have a boost meter that lights up when the brights are turned on. Is there any easy way to make it come on with the headlights and not the brights? Is it something I can do in the driveway or do I need to take it back and have them rip it apart.

I don't have any wiring diagrams or instructions so I'm kind of stuck here with this one.

TIA!

Take it back and make the original installer fix it. They screwed up.
Honestly, they are only one wire off, but it's a pain in the but to get under the dash of these cars so might as well make them get upside down with a flash light. JMO

Thanks Bob. Only problem is the shop is about an hour-and-a-half from my house. If it was an hour or less job it would be quicker and easier for me to do it myself in the driveway.

I know I'm not much help, but I do know it's a 10 minute fix. I just can't remember the color code on the switched parking lamp hot that comes off of the wire harness or I'd tell you exactly what to do. If you feel adventures, get underneath the dash with a probe and find out where they tapped into your harness. In that same loom is the switched clearance, (running), lamp feed. That is the one you want to tap into for your gauge. Sorry my memory erases itself after I go to sleep each night.

O.K. my friend. I hope you have a rear window defrost switch in your car because after looking at mine, I remembered what i did.

When you pull the rear window defrost control switch out of the dash, it exposes the wire you need for your gauge. If you pull the harness of of the switch you'll see it has 5 pins. Looking at it head on, the pin farthest to the right, (#5), is a "switch illumination" power feed. That feed is controlled by your clearance/dimmer function. It is the light blue with a red stripe wire. Tap into that and your gauge will light up and also be controlled by the dimmer. uuummmmmmm, I think. Just kidding, It'll work. Good luck.

It appears as though the sensor for the A/F gauge went bad now. So, I am now going to the shop regardless and will have them fix both problems. They said sorry, must have put it on the wrong wire.

Thanks for the info though, I may still try to fix it myself in cas eI get bored on vacation next week.
