Default Odometer/Trip are shot

The odometer and trip in my 97 GT quit working on me the other day. I was driving down the highway (on a two hour trip) and there was a soft rattle coming from my dash. It finally quit and about 30min later I noticed my odom and trip werent working? I havent pulled the cluster out but could I have a loose connection??? The rest of the gages work fine. If I mess with it is there are chance or reseting it on accident? I am planning on selling the car for a PI so I dont want to make it difficult to sell with a reset odometer.
