Default Fuel Pump Re-Wiring

I bought a Walbro 255lph pump and it is maxing out at about 4500rpm's. Now I bought a Focus 310lph pump, my tuner recommended rewiring the pump with a 10-12 gauge wire to increase the voltage. Is that necessary? Has anybody used the Focus pump without rewiring and acheived good results? How much rwhp do you have? Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Fuel Pump Re-Wiring

Here are more details.
The fuel pump power wire is the one that runs from the inertia switch to the FPDM, should I cut that and install a relay to feed power to it from the battery? Should I use 10 or 12 gauge wire? It looks like the stock wire is about 16-18 gauge. I want to do this myself because I am going over budget with this setup.

do you know the max current draw on the pump? that should tell you what size wiring to run.

Currently the power wire looks like a 16 gauge wire. I am just concerned with if the Focus pump will receive enough power to do it's job adequately once I install it.
