Default Has anyone fixed the ticking nosie in their motor?

My 01 gt started the ticking noise today after a good 360 and I was curious to see if anyone has fixed this problem. I does it all the way through the rpm's and even sitting at idel you can hear the tick. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

I checked the oil and it was 2.5 quarts low. I reckon it has coils and it is for sure not electrical. I just bought the car today and when I test drove it I know it was not making that noise. Sounds like it is coming from the drivers side at the front of the valve cover. The oil didn't seem to help much. I haven't drove it that hard, I hope these motors will take more than what I have given that one. The boy I bought it from didn't look like he was the hell rasing type to treat the car ruff. What could it be or should I even worry about it.
Thanks

Sorry to tell you but you spun a rod bearing just like I did, I just put an 04 motor and tranny in last weekend and now Im going to rebuild the other. Your symtomes are what I had to the T.

Whoa, that is one hell of a diagnosis CJ. Without more info, it could be many things. It might be something simple in the valve train. Take it to someone who is very good with the mod motors or to the dealership for a proper diagnosis.

Is the ticking noise only audible from inside the car, or can you hear it when you pop your hood. The only reason I ask is because an exhaust leak can sound similar - so don't jump to any conclusions, just have it checked out.

I am sure it is in the motor I know what an exhaust leak sounds like. I guess this baby will have to go to the auction next week. I changed the oil and added some lucas but no help.
Thanks for the help.

Well If You were 2.5 quarts low on oil.It could be You threw a valve out of adjust ment.Start your car and get a screw drive and put it on the valve cover then put your ear to it(old gear head trick) or get a set of mechanics ears. What were your rpms when you did the 360

Less than 6 grand, I have never hit the rev limiter in it. I will give it a try and see what I hear.
Thanks, Kade

Also seems that for it to have spun a bearing that it would have had to lose oil pressure and it never did that. I know it was low but not enough to do that.
