i am going to a automotive school that has a 99 crown vic police car as a fleet car which we work on i started looking at the rear end and the driveshaft and the motor.I think i could take a similar car and maybe could maybe swap the whole drivetrain out and put it into my project 68 mustang.another cool thing is the 4.6 is a distributerless system which i wouldnt have to worry about changing spark plugs.i think it would be reliable and cool especially with dual overhead cams.It would be one fast machine

Uh, you still have to change spark plugs. Just not a cap and rotor. Which ford had right (front of the motor) anyways.

oh sh*t oops well somebody in my class was bull sh*ting me then ,what I met was the di system which i wouldn't have to worry about changing the spark plugs in a tight place like in my case if i were to put the 4.6 into the 68 engine i wouldn't have jack the motor up to change the plugs which is really cool.

that is true since the plugs are straight down. The down side about doing those plugs is that you need a good plug socket to make sure it grabs the plugs. They drop down thru the intake into the head for a centralized location in the combustion chamber. The 4.6L is an excellent design that has MAJOR potential. Look at how well they take to forced induction.

you definetly right, they love those superchargers i guess the 05 mustang is putting out 400 hp stock with either a paxton or a rousch.Another thing since a 68 mustang weighs close to 3000 pounds and the crown vic weighs 3800 which that would give me more power,I think/Another brainstorm dilema is all the computer wiring i dont know how i would deal with the abs system the engine sensors and all the electrical that go into the stock crown vic dash how could i convert it into the 68 dash ,I think i would have go with a complete custom dash or use aftermarket gauges. It would defintely be cool if i could have all the warning lights built in somewhere on the dash.Plus motor mounts i guess i would just take them off the crown vic and re weld them on the 68 frame.Plus if i swap the rear differential if it has the 5 lug i could put a set of mustang bullet rims on plus some 17s.the main concern is the wiring hook up i could do the rest.<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley14.gif border="0">

I just hope Ford doesn't cut back production on the Cobra when they start juicing it up like that.

bet you anything that they will over price to much to were someone like cant buy one.Thats why i'll go for something old than new because of the price i would rather have a 68 mustang than a 2002 because of the price gap,but besides that i am glad to hear that ford is finally putting out muscle car that we are looking forward to seeing
