Default Exhaust

Could someone break down the components of the exhaust for me. I read the stickey and it seems there is the header (long tube is better than shorty) then the mid-pipe (x or h style) and then the cat back. Could someone elaborate on these for me?

Catback

Mid-pipe
-Off-road (O/R)
- X-pipe: Pipes that cross-over in an "X" figure and does not sport the catalytic converters. Fails emission Tests (illegal). Much more air-flow than stock or catted. LOUD and deep.
- H-Pipe: Stock looking pipes without the Catalytic converters. Fails emission tests (illegal). DEEP and loud.
-"High-Flow" Catted
-Has catalytic converters, emissions legal, less air-flow.

Yes, either one can be purchased with or w/o cats. Complete exhaust offers good discounts on most items if you tell them you're a member of mustang forums. I got my catted x and cat back for $765 delivered.

Oh yeah, I love it.

How much would a good complete exhaust cost me without install? How much does install usually run? Also does anyone have solid proof (HP increases or times increases) after installing their exhaust. I know it helps but how much? What are the best bang for the buck exhaust companies?

So exhaust doesn't add much HP? I thought the reason most did exhaust was for HP, other reason was for sound.

I just put on a set of magnapack's yesterday. I am running stock mid and stock headers. I really like the sound. Mine at least are quiet when cruising, but when you get on it has a very nice mean sound that is pretty loud.
