Disappointed in 3:73s
Had the 3:73's installed and picked it up yesterday expecting a massive difference! Must say I was dissapointed, not the wake up everyone predicts in my book! I would not worry about everyday driving with this ratio my highway RPMs changed VERY little. In 5th gear at 65MPH rpms went from 1800 to 2000, at 70 1900 to 2200 and at 75 2100 went to 2400, hardly noticable, not that different around town either, hope their better at the track!

RE: Disappointed in 3:73s
There is a place in Austin Tx that does all my upgrades and the guy that owns the place told me that going from a 3.27 to a 3.73 is no big change at all. He said to really feel a difference at all I need to go with a 3.90 at least. He said 4.10's are the best but I do a lot of highway driving and he said it would put me at about 2400 rpm's at 70 when right now im running 1900 in 70. I might change down the road but not any time soon.

As for being better at the track...yea you will be better than the 3.27, but vs a 4.10...nope. With the 4.10, you will be shifting right into the meat of you power everytime, & be just were u need to be at the end of the 1/4, where as that last shift w/the 3.73 will drop you out of what I call a powerband, so it sucks. Either you over rev, or shift & loose the peak #'s anyway. HOWEVER...3.73's are the only way to go with a P/A IMO.

RE: Disappointed in 3:73s
Actually 99+ GT's have more HP & Torque. The only advantage Fox Bodies have from the factory was weight.
It's the crappy geared 5 speed tranny that's equipped in late model GT's that hinder them..
