Default Anyone Else Had This Problem

I just got a 2000 mustang, and it runs great. In my car, your legs get really hot, i mean almost sweaty. Is that normal? It's almost crazy how warm they get. Anyone else have this problem, and how can i fix it? Thanks, RObert

Yeah i have the same problem in my 96 and 02. I think it is from poor insulation and the motor/tranny heat comming through. I dont know if anything can be done to reduce the heat.

It would not be easy but you could put a custom fab'd heat sheild in up there.

Do you think wrapping the headers would help any?

my car does that too... think about it, we are driving sports cars, they use less sound/temerature insulation to cut back on weight, space etc....

wrapping the manifolds would not be worth what you would go through, if anything install some better insulation under your carpet

Have you checked to see if your lower shift boot is ripped or missing (there is another rubber shield underneath your shift boot you see in your car). When I bought my car it would get really hot like you described and I replaced the rubber shield and no more heat.

"Hot" is a relative term. If it's burning you, something is wrong. Exhaust leek perhapse. But if it was exhaust, you'd hear it before you felt it. You could always pull up the carpet and put down a "DynoMat" type insulation if you feel the need to.
