Default RE: Exhaust Install

i did mine a couple weeks ago. use a ton of pb blaster. you can never use too much and let it soak and then spray some more. you are going to need about 1-1/2 to 2 feet of extensions and a swivel. use a six point socket as mentioned and if you feel it start to strip STOP and tighten it and spray some more pb. just moving the bolt will help get pb in there. when i finally got mine off, there was some pb on the nut and stud so it does get in there, just takes time and patience. if you round off that bolt you're gonna have a lot of problems.

lucky for me my car only had 26k miles in southern climate so no rust : )

and for the catback just saw it off as high as you can over the axle then un bolt and it comes right out.

you can get away with two ramps for the front to do the midpipe, then back it up and use them for the catback

make sure to use a 1/2" drive ratchet, a 3/8" wouldnt allow me enough torque to get that bolt off with the u-joint. passanger side lower bolt on the manifold to h pipe is the bastard. just start wtih that and get it over with, once u get it off u will be relieved to see how easy the others come loose

One more thing... do I use the stock bolts to put the aftermarket stuff in, or should it come with new bolts? If not, should i buy new bolts?

I got all new nuts. If you strip the nuts, dont worry, there is a $22 fix at Autozone the will get it right off with no problems. I stripped one on the passanger side. With the kit from Autozone the stripped nut came off easy. It also help that I have all the air tools and compressor set-up in my garage.

ORIGINAL: dsg04gt

Alrighty, i got my Stingers yesterday, and the H Pipe is coming in on Monday. Couple questions... Im installing it at my buddies house, and we were planning to use 2 Rhino Ramps for the front wheels, and 2 jack stands for the rear axle. Has anybody done it this way? Does it sound safe? Will i have enough clearance under the car? Also, besides PB Blaster and a saw, is there anything else that i need? Any special tools? Thanks in advance.

Put the rear stands under the frame and let the axle hang down. That will give you a lot more room to maneuver the exhaust pipes back in. A little synthetic grease/oil on the rubber mounts will help you install/remove the hangers easier, as well. Don't use petroleum based as it like to eat rubber.
