how much would drag radials cost
about 300-350 bucks... i picked up a brand new set of mt street radials for 300 and they still spin.... time for slicks next.

Congrats at your first trip down the 1320. A lot of it has to do with tires, tire pressure and tires. Not to mention, tires. I kind of think because this was your first time you got a little excited. It happens to everyone, don't let 'em lie to ya. I don't have 4.10's so I don't know if this would work for you. I bring mine up to 2300, pull the clutch and press the go pedal. If you spin, tires brother, tires. Don't get bummed out about the results the first time you go to a strip. Practice practice and tires. Congrats again brother.
Yes, I definately agree about the tire thing. The 60ft seems to be the most important part of drag racing IMO. If you want to improve your 60, you definately need some tires. I'm going with BFG's in the near future. My 4.10's help out tremendously on the launch, but I can't do as good as I'm capable of because of the stock Pirelli's.

Running at 5200 feet helps your traction too! [sm=sleeping.gif]

Yep, I wouldn't know what this thing drives like at sea level until I travel.

With only the mods in my sig.............about 2 weeks ago I too went to the strip for the first time ever. My first time out I ran a 2.298 60' and the 1/4 was 14.653. I went 94.86 mph. I never improved on the 1/4 time but my R/T and 60' improved. I did 4 runs. I don't think that is bad for a stock GT with only flowmaster muflers and FIPK intake. Musta been the royal purple lol. do you guys think that is pretty good for my 1st time or could it be better. The kdw's spun a lot and it was a slick track too.

I drove around the water and did not burn out. I don't have the money to replace tires that often right now. I know burning out heats and clean the tires so you can hook beter right.

For street tires, turning them over a couple times is all you need to do (dry hop). Basically, it cleans the dirt off the tires. If you drive through the water, the water will get under your treadblocks when you stages, killing your traction.

Lowering your launch rpm and taking it easy on the throttle are the only ways to keep spin under control. I launch my '03 around 1500 rpm and it does lauch very hard, even with street tires. My '71 launches hard with a 1200 rpm start (though it'll break the tires loose around 3k when the cam really starts working...[sm=Awwww.gif]).
