Default Snow + Mustang

How bad are Mustangs in the snow? I am considering picking up a GT (99+) but I live in New England where it snows from Dec-Mar. What tires are best in the snow? Also would regearing to 4.10 be a horrible idea?

I'm interested in the gear thing too, cause I already put them in and the stang is going to be my dd for a little while so I can start putting $$$ away. I did drive the stang in the snow a little bit this past winter and let me tell you it is not made for snow. If you take your time though, it won't be much worse than any other car once you get moving. The rough part is stopping and going, I've turned my car car sideways a couple times in bad weather cause I came off the line like an ***.

No matter what you do to your mustang, its going to be terrible in the snow. One time I got caught when it started snowing...there was maybe .5" of snow on the road and I went down an entire street at a 45deg. angle because my back end was just falling off the shoulder. So...if at all possible, stay out of the snow![&:]

We love our cars, but those of us in the snow belt, have access to a snow car, my F-250 4X4 and Escape do winter duty. Our Mustangs "sleep" in the winter. But I must confess, I love VA, I used my car all winter, we had 4" of snow total, and it disappears in a day, another bonus, no sand, no salt, they use cinder, a kind of pea gravel. I lived in CT a year ago, I know your pain. Get a winter beater like an Escort or something, helpful also going into high theft areas, if you know what I mean.

Well I'm going to be selling my winter car, Jeep Wrangler, in order to get a faster car like the Mustang GT. Jeeps are good in the snow but because they have no weight in the back they tend to fishtail a lot.

stangs are bad in snow period. with some really good snow tires and weight in the back, you got a chance. but if you dont put snow tires on there, youll be driving sideways every time it snows. first year i got mine, i drove it during 3 or 4 major snow storms, almost died every time. i mean, i had to run red lights because stopping was not an option. i couldnt get up my driveway with its slight incline, it took me 20 minutes to get out of a parking lot cause the tires were just spinning in place. if you do doit, get some really beefy winter tires, and lots of sand in the trunk.

Appartenly no one knows how to drive in the snow...I drove my stang through the winter here in Michigan. You MUST buy snow tires to go anywhere. With the traction control on and sand bags in the trunk it can be done.
