everywhere i've seen, the heads are like 300-400 brand new, the intake manifold is another 200, plus the head changing kit (gaskets and such) is 100+, so thats up over a grand right there.

All this talk about the C/R being between 10-10.5 isn't there a way to get a thicker head gasket to keep the C/R down a bit. I'd like to throw some sort of boost on down the road wheather it be nitrous or sc. I don't want to do this project if it's going to restrict me completely, there's got to be some sort of solution for this problem.

Also, has anybody tried an aftermarket cam with this swap? I know there are issues with the clearance with the pistons but I'd like to know if there is any mild cam i could use without having to change pistons.

Don't sweat the PTV clearance, pick up a set of VT st1 NA cams and you will be ok. They don't grind the 4* of timing in like comp cams does. Now if your gonna add boost later on then you should hold off on cams until you make up your mind.
And Cometic is the head gasket you want if you need to lower the CR.

i know of two different gasket thikness like .036 and .042 thick iam running the .036 but the compression ratio doesn't really change that much I am running comp cams 270ah .550 lift and am doing just fine not clearence issues
